Download and install MacDroid on your Mac.
Garmin devices use the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) for file transfers, a protocol that macOS does not support natively. This means that Mac computers cannot directly access and interact with files stored on Garmin without additional software. In this article, we’ll show you how to connect your Garmin device to a Mac and transfer data between them. Read on to find out the details.
MacDroid is a powerful MTP client that lets you connect your Garmin to a Mac, enabling seamless file management. With MacDroid, you can transfer workout data, routes, photos, and music (if supported), and even edit files stored on your smartwatch or fitness tracker without needing to copy them to your computer first.
A standout feature of MacDroid is its ability to mount your Android or Garmin device as a drive on your Mac. Once connected and MacDroid is launched, you can easily access Garmin from Finder and work with its files. This functionality is exceptionally convenient.
To connect your Garmin device, just follow these simple steps:
Download and install MacDroid on your Mac.
Use the USB cable that came with your Garmin to connect it to your Mac.
If prompted on your Garmin, choose “Use MTP (media transfer)”.
Launch MacDroid and select the MTP connection. Next, choose your device in the “Device list” and click “Mount”.
Once your device is connected, open it in Finder. You can now access the Garmin folder and browse files stored here, install third-party maps, back up settings, and export RAW files.
Note: If the connection fails, go to your Garmin device's Settings, select USB Mode, and try switching between different modes.
The MacDroid app works with all MTP devices, including Garmin smartwatches, fitness trackers, GPS devices, and marine products. Install MacDroid and start managing your Garmin data with ease and convenience.
